Project Engineer

Day to Day:
Our client in the ITS/ Tolling industry is looking for a Project Engineer to join their team in Dallas, TX. This person will manage and support the field operations on projects. The appointed person will report to the Project Manager, but primary responsibility will be to assist in all the project areas including to ensure that the foreman and crew have the materials, equipment, and information necessary to complete the job. This will be around 75% in the field and 25% in office. As an extension of the Project Manager, the PE is ultimately responsible for understanding and accomplishing the customer's goals while protecting and promoting the interests of the company in all matters.

Difference between 2 Engineer Roles:
Project Engineer (Underground Utilities/Boring Focus):
This person oversees underground construction work such as trenching, directional boring, and conduit installation. They spend most of their time in the field making sure crews have the equipment, materials, and support needed to keep projects moving safely and on schedule.


Project Engineer (Traffic Signals & Utilities Focus):
This person manages the installation and troubleshooting of traffic signal systems and the underground infrastructure that supports them. They work closely with field crews to coordinate signal installations, resolve issues, and ensure projects meet TXDOT requirements and timelines.

Required Skills & Experience
• 3-5+ years of experience in construction as an engineer
• Industry experience: experience working with TX Department of Transportation (TXDOT)
• Strong Excel experience
• Experience in the electrical/underground scope: trenching, boring, etc. OR traffic signal installation/troubleshooting
Comfortable working in the field/ experience working in the field


Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Spanish (STRONGLY PREFFERED)
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
