Overview Emerson College’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders seeks a Course Facilitator to support our Speech‑Language Pathology (SLP) program. The Course Facilitator is responsible for leading weekly live sessions via Zoom for a course section of approximately 10–17 students and facilitating the overall learning experience for the program’s residential and online modalities. Responsibilities Acquire required text and materials for instruction at the facilitator’s own expense. Participate in individual and group training related to course content, objectives, the learning management platform, and online teaching prior to the course start. Attend at least three meetings per term with the Convenor and other facilitators to ensure course section parity. Host weekly office hours and schedule additional student meetings as needed. Respond to students’ questions in a timely fashion. Provide grades and feedback on student performance thoughtfully and promptly. Deliver asynchronous and synchronous feedback to the Convenor for course iterations. Course‑Specific Requirements Comfortable with silence in a clinical setting and in the classroom. Strong background counseling clients and their families within the SLP scope of practice. Course work in counseling and experience with mindfulness practices. One live session per week at a set day and time; one office hour per week; private meetings with each student during office hours; additional private student meetings as needed. Grade 1 exam and two assignments, review completion of asynchronous assignments every week. Utilize live session plans including videos and activities, embedded in Canvas; presentation tools such as Google Slides, Zoom features, LucidSpark, etc. Qualifications Master’s degree with certification in speech‑language pathology and possession of a valid state license. Minimum of 4–6 years of experience as a practicing Speech‑Language Pathologist. Experience working in a speech and hearing clinical setting and/or ASHA professional certification. Fluent with webinar technology (Zoom, WebEx, GoToMeeting, Skype). Proficient with Microsoft Office, G‑Suite, and presentation software. Experience with online educational programs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Highly skilled relationship‑builder able to engage diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students. Ability to handle and maintain confidentiality. Sound judgment and decision‑making skills. Passion for helping students. Effective presentation skills for small and large groups; productive collaboration with a diverse community. Strong written and oral communication skills; concise and articulate delivery. Comfortable working remotely with reliable internet and computer equipment. Physical Abilities Generally sedentary work with occasional movement; requires long periods of mental concentration. Repetitive movements, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, reaching, and stooping. Work Environment Fully remote role requiring a quiet, distraction‑free workspace.
