POSITION: Substitute Secretary Candidates

QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Pass the approved WV Service Personnel Competency Tests for Secretary I, II, III, and Executive Secretary. Demonstrate effective communication skills. Testing will be scheduled and candidates will be contacted. Additional training will be scheduled for applicants who successfully advance through the screening process.
- Successfully complete online training required for distribution of medications.
- Demonstrate considerable knowledge of business English.
- Be able to exercise good judgment to reach decisions independently and quickly when necessary.
- Be able to carry out complex oral and written directions with a minimum amount of supervision.
- Be competent in using the computer for financial record-keeping and locating students and teachers using WVEIS, WVEIS WOW and completing other office tasks using the computer.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment will be on an as-needed basis.
SALARY: Per Tyler County Salary Schedule
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be available to work 75% of the times called to work.
- Applicants must pass competency testing for secretary. Additional training will be scheduled for applicants who successfully advance through the screening process.
- Applicants must pass a competency test to be eligible for further consideration.
- Only candidates who pass the competency test will advance to the interview process.

JOB DESCRIPTION SECRETARY I, II, III, and Executive
- Organize, schedule, and prepare materials for meetings.
- Maintain supervisor's appointment calendar.
- Answer telephone and screen incoming calls.
- Deal with difficult situations and persons.
- Order and stock supplies.
- Perform bookkeeping and financial activities, i.e., balance books, balance bank statement, make bank deposits, etc.
- Maintain files
- Maintain all student records, i.e., student transcripts, permanent record cards, absentee and tardy lists, etc.
- Maintain payroll and personnel attendance records.
- Type and proofread correspondence, reports, charts, expense forms, booklets, purchase orders, business forms, certificates, etc.
- Enter information data into the computer and maintain and retrieve files from media storage.
- Operate office machines, i.e., computer and software, duplicating machine, calculator, fax machine, etc.
- Enter and retrieve information and data from the West Virginia Education Information System (WVEIS) as it relates to the job.
- Practice good safety habits and have knowledge of basic first aid.
- Conduct one's self in a positive, professional manner at all times.
- Dress should be professional and appropriate to the position.
- Maintain confidentiality as required by the position.
- Dispense medication when necessary after completing the necessary training and being certified for medication distribution.
- Perform other tasks and assume other duties and responsibilities as the immediate supervisor may assign.
$26.47 - $43.62 per hour
