QA/QC Technician

Job Description

onsemi is seeking a QA/QC Technician to support wafer fabrication and metrology operations. Reporting to the Metrology/Characterization Manager, this role helps ensure products, processes, and materials meet internal quality standards and customer requirements. The technician will handle wafers in the cleanroom, etch room, and inspection areas while supporting wafer inspection, cleaning, metrology, and etch-related processes.

Shift: Back end days-Thursday, Friday, Saturday, every other Wednesday. 6am-6pm

Responsibilities

• Perform incoming, in-process, and final wafer inspections using metrology and inspection equipment.
• Handle and process wafers in cleanroom and etch-room environments while following contamination control procedures.
• Measure wafer characteristics, including thickness, surface quality, dimensions, and defect classification. Identify, document, and escalate wafer defects, process deviations, nonconforming material, and other quality concerns.
• Record inspection results, SPC data, production information, and material traceability in manufacturing systems.
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and verify metrology, inspection, and process equipment.
• Perform QA/QC testing and data analysis to verify product conformance and alignment between part quality, process results, and recorded data.
• Follow and enforce SOPs, approved changes, safety requirements, quality standards, and cleanroom protocols while handling chemicals and wafer processing materials.
• Support engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams with process monitoring, investigations, equipment qualifications, process development, production readiness, and continuous improvement activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and 5S standards within assigned work areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred.
• Three or more years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing preferred.
• Quality control or quality assurance background strongly preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to enter and maintain accurate data.
• Ability to use inspection tools such as dial calipers and micrometers.
• Familiarity with SPC, quality systems, and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
• Experience operating optical inspection, microscopy, laser-based metrology, automated defect detection, CMM, microscope, or X-ray equipment.
• Skilled in the use of inspection tools and works well both independently and as a team player, strong work ethics.
• Demonstrated knowledge on ISO 9001 standards, ITAF a plus.
• Self-motivated, able to prioritize, and work with minimal supervision. Works well independently as well as in a team environment.
• A strong goal-orientation and high energy level are critical.
• Detail-oriented, accurate, timely with strong analytical skills.
• Has a desire to drive continuous improvement.
• Results-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills necessary
• Ability to stand and walk for 12-hour shifts.
