RN- Lactation Consultant

Job Description Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an excellent opportunity for a civilian RN at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness. Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF. Perform physical exam and health histories. Provide health promotions, counseling, and education. Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions. Care is provided in coordination with other healthcare professionals. Accountable for meeting with all patients based on the unit to assess their needs and document feeding risks and benefits. Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations. Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people to inform the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching and education to benefit the patient, family and organization. Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate. Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes. Perform comprehensive lactation assessment of the mother and her infant within the hospital setting in accordance with the policy and guidelines of postpartum and newborn nursery care required for government beneficiaries. Provide comprehensive care to the perinatal mother desiring to lactate. Assess mothers and newborns for normal/abnormal anatomy to determine ability to breastfeed. Create a social environment that promotes learning for staff and patients. Conduct bedside lactation rounds daily. Requirements U.S. citizen Degree/Education: Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing. Graduate from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Experience: Three years of experience in nursing as identified in the TO after graduation. Active BLS certification from American Red Cross or Heart Association.
