Position : Phlebotomist 5251 Location : Albany, NY and surrounding area Schedule : Monday through Friday 6:30 AM–3:00 PM with alternate Saturdays 7:00 AM–1:00 PM Projected duration : 3 months, with potential for permanent placement Job Code : CVDJP00035251 Benefits : Available Float position. Candidates may travel to any of the sites listed below. Work can be scheduled for an 8‑hour day between 6:30 AM–5:30 PM, or a 5‑hour day on alternate Saturdays between 7:00 AM–1:00 PM. Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation. Mileage expenses will be paid. Potential Locations Castleton, NY Delmar, NY Catskill, NY Schenectady, NY Cobleskill, NY Latham, NY Amsterdam, NY Valatie, NY Albany, NY Guilderland, NY Responsibilities The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination; also updating patient information. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Properly explain the venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients in a clear and courteous manner. Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all of the physician’s orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% correctness. Package specimens for transport. Store specimen samples according to required temperature; place samples in appropriate collection containers, accurately label, and follow different procedures as outlined by protocol to maintain integrity during transport. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and review laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed, as required. Minimum of 6 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. #J-18808-Ljbffr Tom Trese
