Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee transportation operations, carrier management, and logistics planning for our distribution network. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring freight moves efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time while maintaining exceptional service levels for customers and business partners.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in transportation, carrier relations, team leadership, and supply chain operations. This position plays a key role in driving operational performance, improving processes, and ensuring compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Transportation & Logistics Operations
- Manage daily transportation and logistics activities to ensure timely and efficient movement of freight.
- Oversee load planning, shipment scheduling, and carrier selection to maximize service and cost efficiency.
- Ensure customer requests and transportation needs are processed accurately and within required timelines.
- Monitor shipment status and proactively address delays, service issues, or operational challenges.
- Troubleshoot transportation issues and implement solutions to minimize disruptions.
Carrier & Customer Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, brokers, and transportation partners.
- Negotiate rates and transportation agreements to support company goals and customer requirements.
- Evaluate carrier performance, service levels, and reliability.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for transportation-related communication with customers and carriers.
- Ensure customers receive timely updates regarding shipment status and delivery performance.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop logistics and transportation staff.
- Monitor employee performance and provide training to support continuous improvement.
- Ensure team members understand and follow company procedures and operational standards.
- Promote a culture focused on accountability, communication, and customer service.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure transportation operations comply with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate transportation records, reports, and operational documentation.
- Analyze logistics performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to transportation, carrier management, and customer service.
- Work cross-functionally with operations, warehouse, customer service, and leadership teams to improve overall supply chain performance.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of logistics, transportation, or supply chain management experience preferred.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
- Strong knowledge of transportation operations, freight management, and carrier relations.
- Experience negotiating rates and managing transportation providers.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Proficient with transportation systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
