Compensation Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY We are currently recruiting a Compensation Analyst . This full-time position pays $32.70 an hour and is in Loveland, CO. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule after successful completion of the first 6 months, with the potential to work from home 1-2 days per week, subject to business needs and performance expectations. This role supports a full-service city and requires someone who can adapt to a variety of compensation, classification, and reclassification needs across departments and employee groups, including all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with multiple systems, SharePoint forms, automated workflows, and changing priorities. This position also has the potential to be brought on as a full-time employee. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate compensation and classification programs. Provide advice on compensation and classification methodologies using research, analysis, and problem-solving skills. Assist with planning, coordination, communication, and execution of annual pay plan updates. Conduct salary surveys, collect market data, and prepare summary reports for public and private sector comparisons. Prepare new job descriptions and evaluate existing job descriptions for possible reclassification. Analyze market data for job evaluations and reclassifications, ensuring consistency across the organization. Perform classification and reclassification studies, job matches, and market pricing recommendations. Support compensation inquiries and advise staff on compensation-related issues. Conduct desk audits, interviews, and market surveys to collect and verify compensation data. Provide training to supervisors and staff on compensation systems, Colorado processes, and related practices. Work effectively across departments and with employees at all levels, including operational staff and attorneys. Manage multiple systems, forms, and workflows, including HRIS platforms, SharePoint forms, and automated processes. Maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment when handling sensitive compensation matters. Escalate issues appropriately and professionally when needed. Additional duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently; must be self‑motivated. Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills. Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data. Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism. Ability to adapt quickly to new systems, processes, and changing priorities. Ability to train others and communicate processes clearly to groups and leadership. Strong computer skills, including HRIS systems, reporting tools, SharePoint, and advanced spreadsheet use. UKG experience preferred. Experience with Payfactors and Payscales preferred. Spanish bilingual skills are a plus. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field required. 3 years of experience in compensation analysis, job evaluation, classification/reclassification, or annual pay plan development required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered on a year‑for‑year basis. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, with flexibility on hours. This position may be eligible for up to two days per week working remotely after six months, subject to business needs and performance expectations.
