CNC MACHINIST

Wage; $21.50-$25.50 + shift diff

Location; Cedar Rapids, IA

Shift: 2nd

Position Summary:

The CNC Machinist/Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision components used in HVAC systems and related products. This role ensures parts meet strict quality standards while maintaining efficient production workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, or routers) according to specifications

• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files

• Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine settings

• Monitor machine operations to ensure accuracy and efficiency

• Inspect finished parts using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)

• Make adjustments to machine offsets and programs as needed

• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC equipment

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company policies

• Document production data and report any defects or issues

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED (technical training preferred)

• 1–3+ years of CNC machining or operating experience (or entry-level with training)

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

• Familiarity with G-code and CNC programming basics

• Experience with precision measuring instruments

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in manufacturing or HVAC-related production

• Knowledge of CAD/CAM software

• Ability to perform machine setups and minor programming edits

• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
