Title: Donor Relations Manager

Hours: Part-time (25-30 hours per week)

Job Focus: Donor Stewardship & Engagement and Storytelling & Impact Communication

General Functions:

Following the lead of the Executive Director and under the direction of the Development Director, the Development Team (DT) is a collaborative group of staff members who take ownership of individual projects yet rely on the skillsets of those within the team to best accomplish goals and further the mission of Ronald McDonald House Southern Colorado through awareness and fundraising campaigns. Strategic in their thinking, DT members encourage others to share their thoughts and impressions, assist others when needed, developing and executing plans that successfully expand the reach of Ronald McDonald House Southern Colorado.

Specifically, Donor Relations Manager plays a critical role in advancing the organization's mission to remove barriers to care, strengthen families, and promote healing for children in need of healthcare. This position blends relationship-driven fundraising with compelling storytelling to inspire philanthropic investment and deepen donor engagement. The role manages a portfolio of major donors while elevating authentic stories that demonstrate the life-changing impact of our programs.

The Donor Relations Manager must possess great communication skills (spoken and written); strong storytelling abilities; a willingness and desire to work outside of the office maintaining and building new relationships; strong organizational skills; an eye for detail and a desire to work with and support the Ronald McDonald House Southern Colorado team. While the Donor Relations Manager will work closely with the DT, Ronald McDonald House Southern Colorado staff, Board Members and a key group of volunteers, they must also be able to effectively work independently.

Essential Functions:

Donor Stewardship & Engagement

• Develop and execute personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies aligned with donor interests in children's health and family support
• Lead the creation of individualized impact stories showing outcomes for children and their families
• Coordinate donor recognition and regular in-person and virtual meetings to build meaningful, trust-based relationships
• Ensure timely, personalized acknowledgment of gifts and ongoing engagement
• Achieve annual revenue goals and support long-term fundraising growth
• Lead donor relation efforts (i.e. bi-annual cards, letters, outreach to room/space adopters/sustainers, others)
• Develop, cultivate and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors, offering opportunities to engage adopters, sustainers, legacy givers, planned gifts, etc.
• Assist with planning and executing quarterly and special meetings (i.e. donor breakfasts, donor and sponsor dinners)
• Ensure donor lists are up-to-date and accurate
• Initiate and coordinate community outreach activities including tours of the Ronald McDonald House and Family Rooms, public speaking engagements and networking opportunities for individuals, groups and prospective donors

Storytelling & Impact Communications

• Lead storytelling efforts that focus on the families and children we serve
• Conduct interviews with families, caregivers, clinicians, and program staff to gather authentic stories
• Translate sensitive, complex experiences into respectful, strengths-based narratives
• Write and edit high-impact donor communications, including newsletter articles (print & electronic), collateral when needed, content for the website, and special mailings as needed (i.e. direct mail)
• Ensure all storytelling reflects dignity, privacy, and ethical representation of families served

General

• Attend all Ronald McDonald House Southern Colorado staff meetings
• Respect the privacy and confidentiality of all guests and agency information
• Represent Ronald McDonald House Southern Colorado in a positive way in the community
• Maintain a positive and cooperative relationship with staff and volunteers, demonstrating Ronald McDonald House Southern Colorado's core values and business philosophy
• In all instances, serve as an ambassador for Ronald McDonald House Southern Colorado, appropriately communicating the mission and purpose of the organization
• Execute other responsibilities and projects as requested

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Bachelor's Degree in public relations, marketing, PR, or nonprofit management preferred and/or three years of demonstrated success and experience in donor relations/stewardship
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and written skills with strong storytelling abilities
• Ability to lead groups, problem solve and make decisions
• Ability to create, grow and maintain relationships with donors
• Experience managing donor portfolios, meeting fundraising goals, and cultivating major gifts
• Knowledge of fundraising techniques (annual giving, major gifts, planned giving) and the ability to develop donor engagement strategies
• Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office products; Google; Constant Contact; Canva; social media platforms; etc.
• Able to work both independently and in a team environment with shared responsibilities
• Respect for diverse cultures and ability to work and interact with all types of people
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
