Job Description:

The CV Invasive Specialist I performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring some proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist I performs a variety of technical procedures that require some independent judgment. The CV Invasive Specialist I assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required. Follows Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals (ACVP) Scope of Practice or for Electrophysiology the NASPE Standards of Professional Practice for the Allied Professional in Pacing and Electrophysiology. The CV Invasive Specialist II (CVIS II) performs duties necessary for catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring minimal supervision of technical detail. The CVIS II performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment. The CVIS II assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required. Follows Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals (ACVP) scope of practice or for Electrophysiology, the NASPE Standards of Professional Practice for the Allied Professional in Pacing and Electrophysiology. Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) is required to pass medications. Lutheran is seeking a skilled Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist to join our high-performing team and contribute to life-saving procedures across a wide range of specialties. State-of-the-Art Facilities Our cardiovascular department includes: 4 Cath Labs and 1 Hybrid Operating Room 3 Electrophysiology-equipped labs 2 Philips Biplane-equipped labs for neurovascular procedures All labs are fully equipped to support cardiac and vascular procedures. Diverse Procedure Portfolio We perform approximately 160 procedures per month, including: Cardiac: Diagnostic/interventional catheterizations, Impella support Electrophysiology: Ablations (AV Node, SVT, Atrial Fibrillation – Convergent & PFA, Atrial Flutter, PVC, VT), Watchman device, CRM device implantation Structural Heart: ASD and PFO closures Vascular: Endovascular and peripheral interventions, EVAR Neurovascular: Carotid stenting, embolization, coiling, thrombectomy (diagnostic & emergent) ? Cutting-Edge Technology Our labs feature: Philips imaging systems GE Mac-Lab hemodynamic monitoring Epic ~ Cupid for structured reporting Acist and Med Rad contrast injection devices We utilize advanced tools including Penumbra, Shockwave, Rotational Atherectomy, Volcano, Boston Scientific, Impella, balloon pump, laser, and 3D ICE technology. Collaborative Culture You'll be part of a close-knit, respectful team of: Cardiologists Electrophysiologists Neurointerventional Radiologists Vascular Surgeons Cardiac Surgeons Procedures are performed by three-person teams of RNs and technologists, with documentation via Epic and Cupid. Sedation is managed through RN-led conscious sedation or anesthesia, as appropriate. As a CV Invasive Specialist at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by: Essential Functions Participate in procedure room preparation and post procedure turn around. Develop specific knowledge with regard to invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies which includes assisting in inventory control. Develops specific knowledge of applications, proper use and deployment techniques including documenting hemodynamic recordings, calculations, and interpretations. Provide patient education and emotional support for patients and their family members; ensure patient comfort. Foster teamwork and cohesiveness with team members and physicians. Develop knowledge specific to cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomic anomalies, and treatment options. Assess the condition of the patient, document, and inform physician of deviations from normal criteria throughout the procedure. Understand and apply principles of x-ray generation and safety. Understand and demonstrate the correct operation of imaging equipment. May mix and administer medications under the direction and supervision of the physician (RCIS or RCES is required to pass medications). Pursuant to state laws. At the end of the procedure, may apply closure device, suture the sheath in place, or remove the sheath and apply pressure to obtain hemostasis. Provide thorough and accurate documentation of each procedure and associated events. Develop skills in operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Perform point of care testing and QA. Accountabilities: Scrub, circulate, and monitor in diagnostic, interventional, and CRM procedures according to scope of practice documents. Complete procedure data entry; acquire and process imaging studies, hemodynamic assessment and calculations, intra-procedure CathPCI registry requirements, and prepare procedural reports. PALS certification for children's hospitals or ACLS certification for adults. New employees must obtain within 3 months of start. Bachelor's degree in health science with six months of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, CNA, Surgical tech)

or –

Graduate of a Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or Nursing program or –

Graduate of a diploma or associate program in health science with one year of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical tech, RN/LPN)

or –

Graduate of a non-programmatically accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology which has a minimum of one year of specialty training and includes a minimum of 800 clinical hours. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified. Intermediate computer skills. Current license, where applicable.

Surgical Tech/Assistant Certification per state requirements Rad Tech state license per state requirements (Montana) Preferred Qualifications 2 years of CV Invasive Training experience. Fluoroscopy Operator Certification per state requirements (Colorado) within 3 months of hire. Minimum Qualifications CV Invasive Specialist II Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. PALS certification for children's hospitals or ACLS certification for adults. New employees must obtain within 3 months of start. Beginning July 1, 2026 must be registered as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or ARRT-CI or ARRT-VI only or RN (previous relevant RN experience required) Demonstrated expertise in performing complex diagnostic and advanced interventional procedures or demonstrated understanding and proficiency in correlation with years of experience with regards to electrophysiology procedures. Maintains at least 12 hours of continuing medical education (CME) credits per year. Demonstrates clinical competence of CVIS/CVES I skills evidenced by skills sign off (must be completed within 3 months of hire) Must meet all state specific requirements (must be completed within 3 months of hire) including, but not limited to:

Surgical Tech/Assistant Certification per state requirements Fluoroscopy Operator Certification as required in the state of Colorado Montana ARRT state license

Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in health science program. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified. or Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or Respiratory Therapy program One year of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or Electrophysiology experience (not including academic training or CVIS training). Physical Requirements Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.) May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time. For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
