Summary As a Data Engineer, you will interpret business needs, select appropriate technologies, and implement data governance for shared and/or master data sets. You will work with business stakeholders, IT experts, and subject‑matter experts to plan and deliver optimal data solutions. Your responsibilities include creating, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines that move through development to production, ensuring seamless data flow for specific use cases and adhering to quality assurance metrics. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including re‑designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes. Develop and design data pipelines to support an end‑to‑end solution. Develop and maintain artifacts (e.g., schemas, data dictionaries, and transforms related to ETL processes). Integrate data pipelines with AWS cloud services to extract meaningful insights. Work with stakeholders to support their data infrastructure needs and assist with data‑related technical issues. Design and develop robust and functional dataflows to support raw data and expected data. Provide Tier 3 technical support for deployed applications and dataflows. Define and communicate a clear product vision for our client’s software products, aligning with user needs and business objectives. Create and manage product roadmaps that reflect both innovation and growth strategies. Partner with a government product owner and a product team of 7‑8 FTEs. Collaborate with the rest of the data engineering team to design and launch new features. Coordinate and document dataflows, capabilities, etc. Occasionally support off‑hours deployments such as evenings or weekends. High co‑location: 70‑80 % onsite. Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience Active TS/SCI clearance. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. Expertise in distributed computing frameworks for large‑scale data processing. Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud environments. Experience with data stores such as PostgreSQL, S3, Redshift, MongoDB/DynamoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, and SQL. Proficient in Python with key libraries such as pandas and PySpark, NiFi, Airflow, AWS Lambda or similar technologies. Knowledge of software platforms and services, such as Docker, Kubernetes, JMS/SQS, SNS, and Kafka. Familiarity with Linux/Unix server environments. Experience with Agile development methodology. Coordinating with other team members to reach project milestones and deadlines. Experience with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence. Desired Qualifications, Education, and Experience Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field. Familiarity with the Intelligence Community (IC) and its intel cycle. Familiarity with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Direct experience with DHS and IC component data architectures and environments (IC‑GovCloud experience preferred). Experience with cloud messaging APIs and push notifications. Strong interest in learning and using the latest software tools, methods, and technologies to solve national security challenges. Knowledge of public keys and digital certificates. Experience with DevOps environments. Expertise in COTS, GOTS, and open‑source tools supporting data integration and visualization. Specialization in object‑oriented programming languages, scripting, and databases. General Factors Compressed schedules may be required; overtime is expected when schedules demand it. Willingness to travel, if needed. No relocation. Ability to sit/stand at a desk for long periods and lift 20 pounds occasionally. Ability to multitask and rapidly change priorities with limited notice.
