QA/QC Technician

The QA/QC Technician will perform comprehensive quality control and quality assurance activities on a large-scale solar farm project in Virginia. This field-based role focuses on ensuring electrical and mechanical installations meet all jurisdictional, client, and company standards, while supporting project teams with technical guidance, documentation, and continuous improvement of safety and quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Implement and use the company's safety management system, quality control program, and policies and procedures in coordination with project managers.
• Review past failed inspections and verify that current installations meet or exceed all jurisdictional requirements.
• Perform and monitor all project quality-related activities across electrical and mechanical scopes.
• Record, report, and train team members on any findings that do not meet company, client, industry, or jurisdiction standards, including processes, products, materials, and equipment used by employees and subcontractors.
• Observe construction procedures on site to ensure customer specifications and solar project requirements are being met.
• Discuss inspection results and findings with management and recommend corrective actions to resolve quality issues.
• Ensure customer expectations for quality and performance are consistently met or exceeded.
• Interpret schematics and other technical drawings that detail solar system specifications, including electrical and mechanical components.
• Review qualifications and training requirements for quality inspection personnel to ensure competency and compliance.
• Work efficiently and safely under pressure and time constraints while maintaining high quality standards.
• Travel to project sites as needed to inspect work and verify that quality expectations are being met.
• Provide feedback to the management team to support future training initiatives and safety meetings.
• Coordinate all QA/QC activities with the site install manager to align inspection efforts with project schedules and milestones.
• Coordinate all quality-related correspondence with customer representatives to maintain clear communication and documentation.
• Coordinate receipt inspections of materials and equipment and distribute relevant documentation to project stakeholders.
• Ensure all inspection documentation is completed, sent, and stored properly upon completion of quality activities.
• Perform quality control work primarily in the field at project construction sites, focusing on a large utility-scale solar farm.
• Use power tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments as needed to conduct inspections and verify installation quality.
• Carry out other related duties as assigned or needed to support overall project quality and safety.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of solar QA/QC experience, preferably on utility-scale projects.
• At least 3 years of electrical or mechanical background in construction or related fields.
• Strong technology background, including the ability to work with digital tools and documentation systems.
• Ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings related to solar installations.
• Experience in quality control, quality assurance, and QC testing in construction or solar environments.
• Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in solar projects.
• Knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) and its application to solar installations.
• Familiarity with racking systems and mechanical structures used on solar farms.
• Ability to work efficiently and safely under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Valid OSHA 10 certification.
• Valid driver's license.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in solar or general construction is preferred.
• Experience using power tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments in a construction or industrial setting.
• Ability to work in inclement weather conditions, including heat and cold, on outdoor project sites.
• Strong communication skills to discuss findings with management and coordinate with customer representatives.
• Ability to train team members on quality standards, procedures, and corrective actions.
• Willingness to travel to various project locations as needed.
• Attention to detail and strong documentation skills to ensure accurate and complete quality records.

Work Environment

This role is based in the field on a 225 MW solar farm, working directly for the general contractor to perform quality control on electrical and mechanical installations. The schedule typically runs 5–6 days per week with a day shift from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and overtime should be expected. Work is primarily outdoors, requiring the ability to operate in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold. The position involves regular use of power tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments. Per diem is provided for each day worked when traveling outside the local area. Standard work clothing appropriate for a construction site is required, along with adherence to all site safety protocols and procedures.

This is a Contract position based out of Windsor, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
