Reports to: General Manager

The Distribution and Order Fulfillment Manager ensures that all orders are shipped on time, complete, 

correct, of the highest quality, and profitably. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for all the transportation and distribution functions including Drivers, dispatchers, 

Loading Dock, and equipment.

2. Responsible for the profitability of the Distribution department.

3. Develop systems that ensure on time, complete and correct delivery to both internal and external 

customers. 

4. Interface with internal and external customers, driver team, sales team, customer service, 

regulatory agencies, and vendors.

5. Ensure compliance with DOT and other regulatory requirements.

6. Negotiate for equipment and outside services.

7. Measure and monitor all aspects of transportation productivity and implement improvements.

8. Train and develop an outstanding driver team.

9. Responsible for the safety improvement program for the distribution department, ensuring that 

safe work practices are in place at all times.

10. Aggressively manage all departmental costs.

11. Develop and implement systems to track and manage transportation inventory including trucks, 

trailers, and racks.

12. Develop and implement systems to improve productivity and reduce per unit costs on the dock.

13. Train and develop an outstanding dock order fulfillment team.

14. Responsible for the maintenance of all department equipment and farm equipment.

15. Responsible for the efficient flow of paperwork through and from the department, including all 

documentation necessary to ensure correct and timely billing of our customers.

16. Develop additional revenue sources through greater utilization of existing equipment to provide 

outside logistics services.

17. Continually find ways to streamline the workflow without sacrificing the quality of work. Find 

new ways to utilize our IT systems to improve productivity.

18. Protect quality standards to ensure Altman Plants always ships the highest quality plants 

possible.

19. Other duties as assigned.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and 

procedure manuals. Ability to interact effectively with customers or employees of our organization.

Bilingual preferred: Spanish and English. 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common 

fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a number of variables in situations where only limited 

standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or 

schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Powerpoint.

Other Skills and Abilities: 

Dependability and punctuality are mandatory. There may be some extended work hours on an as needed 

basis. Must have a professional demeanor and appearance. Must observe and comply with all company 

policies and safety practices.

this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. You will also be 

required to use a computer and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other software 

necessary for this position.
