Research & Learning Librarian for Humanities & Social Sciences Location: Hanover, NH, Berry 178 Work Arrangement: Hybrid (eligible for remote work) Position Purpose Responsible for engagement and outreach to students, faculty, and researchers in the Arts & Sciences, with primary responsibility in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Provides research support, instruction, and collection management in support of the discovery and access to scholarly information. Responsibilities Provides research and curricular support, develops, delivers, and assesses instruction (in-person and online) including learning objects. (30%) Develops, manages, and assesses subject‑area resources; manages assigned collections budgets and makes decisions related to licensing, format, deaccessioning, collective collecting, diversity and inclusion, and preservation or digitization initiatives. (20%) Cultivates relationships with faculty, students, and staff to understand diverse perspectives, expectations, and needs; identifies resources and services and represents their needs. (20%) Participates in committees or task forces related to library and/or campus initiatives; may lead a committee or manage project teams. (25%) Actively engages in ongoing professional development; stays current with trends in librarianship, scholarly publishing, educational technologies, equity, diversity, and inclusion; contributes to the profession through associations. (5%) Demonstrates professionalism and collegiality in interactions and communications. Performs other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Masters or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Qualifications – Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities ALA‑accredited degree in library and/or information science, or a combination of an advanced subject or professional degree combined with relevant academic library experience. Two or more years of post‑graduate experience in an academic or research library or a combination of relevant professional experience. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments. Demonstrated skill and commitment to outreach, engagement, and public service. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to communicate effectively, prioritize tasks, manage time, problem‑solve, and complete projects. Knowledge of and proficiency with key information resources in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Preferred Qualifications Academic background in the Humanities or a related interdisciplinary subject. Experience with developing, delivering, and assessing effective programs and services. Experience and proficiency with effective teaching methods and practices. Experience in collection management including selection and budgeting. Understanding of current issues and trends in scholarly communication and publishing. Technical proficiency in areas such as discovery systems, learning management systems, assessment tools, and Springshare products.
