Audiologist

Audiologist

Provide audiological clinical and educational services to patients and their families. Uphold the organization's vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization's policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

Essential functions include:

  • Providing a full range of audiology services for patients throughout the entire lifespan. Services include comprehensive hearing evaluations, electrophysiologic tests such as ABR and ASSR, vestibular evaluations, and amplification selection and fitting as appropriate, including conventional hearing aids and ALDs, bone anchored implants, and cochlear implants.
  • Gathering and recording data, preparing reports, billing for services, and maintaining a file management system.
  • Participating in activities that promote audiological health and hearing loss prevention.
  • Educating patients and families regarding audiological wellness.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Required knowledge includes general knowledge of typical office technologies such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and typical office software. Job specific knowledge includes knowledge of audiological principles, practices, standards and techniques, and knowledge of cochlear implant candidacy, activation, and follow-up is preferred.

Required skills and abilities include strong organizational skills, maintaining attention to detail, performing as a self-starter, able to maintain work quality and quantity without supervision, strong communication, listening and conflict resolution skills.

Minimum requirements include a Au.DM.S. or M.A. in audiology, general and supervisory experience, and state of Alaska licensure; successful completion of Internship/Externship in program accredited by the Council for Academic Accreditation (CAA) in Audiology or the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education (ACAE).

Physical requirements include use of hands and arms to operate office or clinical equipment, sitting more than half the workday, standing and/or walking less than half the workday, bending, stretching, twisting, crouching and/or reaching, viewing electronic monitors for prolonged periods of time, use of hands and arm for repetitive motion tasks, lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing or pulling using up to moderate force, and seeing and hearing with normal acuity. Working conditions include work conducted in a standard clinical environment to include exposure to latex, biohazard or other harmful substances, moderate travel is required (between 25% and 50% of the time), travel is required via large aircraft, and travel is required via small (less than 16 passenger) aircraft.
