Physician - Geriatric Psychiatry - RUMC (Downtown)

Location: Chicago, Illinois Hospital: Rush University Medical Center Department: Psychiatry Senior Care Work Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0) Geriatric Psychiatrist The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Rush University Medical Center is seeking a board‑certified or board‑eligible psychiatrist to join our faculty. This position involves a combination of clinical service delivery, scholarly activity, and educational responsibilities focused on the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders in older adults. Clinical Care Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and management for patients aged 65 and older across various settings, including outpatient clinics and consultation‑liaison services within the hospital. Diagnose and treat complex conditions such as major neurocognitive disorders (dementia), mood disorders (e.g., geriatric depression), anxiety disorders, and psychosis in the context of advanced age and medical comorbidities. Collaborate closely with neurologists, geriatricians, primary care providers, and neuropsychologists to develop integrated care plans. Education and Teaching Actively participate in the teaching of medical students and psychiatry residents. Develop and deliver lectures, seminars, and clinical supervision on topics specific to late‑life mental illness, psychopharmacology in the elderly, and ethical issues in geriatric care. Serve as a mentor to trainees interested in careers in geriatric psychiatry. Position Requirements Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), or equivalent degree. Successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency program. Successful completion of an accredited Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry is preferred. Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois (or eligible for licensure). Compensation Pay Range: $240,000 - $310,000. Rush offers a competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and incentive programs. The total pay range accounts for factors such as knowledge and skills, relevant experience and training, education, certifications, licensure, primary work location, and other organizational factors. Additional compensation may include sign‑on and retention bonuses, relocation allowances, and opportunities based on exceeding productivity targets. A comprehensive benefits package is also provided.
