Your role at a glance JD for DCTL2 What we are looking for Key Roles and Responsibilities Develop creative approaches to keep operational costs minimal, improve efficiency, and implement new strategies. Mechanical responsibilities: chilled water systems and components, HVAC systems (roof‑top units, CRAC/CRAH units), humidification systems. Electrical responsibilities: electrical/critical power distribution from utility/generator main switchgear through UPS systems to customer load. Fire Life Safety responsibilities: wet sprinkler systems, pre‑action sprinkler systems, and associated detection devices. Test performance of electromechanical assemblies and electronic voltmeters. Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of processes. Inspect parts for surface defects. Install electrical or electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies using hand tools. Align, fit or assemble component parts using hand or power tools. Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facility systems. Work with contractors and consultants to review quality assurance for system expansions, corrections, and upgrades. Track and complete an aggressive preventive and predictive maintenance program. Ensure data centre operates at maximum efficiency, analyze operating conditions, recommend new technologies, and reduce costs. Manage systems to avoid unplanned customer‑impacting events. Determine maintenance requirements for mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems. Perform other duties as assigned. Maintain regular, predictable attendance. Knowledge, Skills and Attributes Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems used in a data centre environment. Knowledge of electrical distribution, transformers, PLCs, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, STSs, ATSs, PDUs, chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAHs, pre‑action sprinkler systems. Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and relevant building codes. Current knowledge of industrial safety best practices (lockout/tag‑out, arc‑flash protection, OSHA and state regulations). Familiarity with data trending/tracking and analysis. Ability to use PC‑based integrated critical monitoring systems. Ability to process hands‑and‑eyes requests (e.g., tape rotation, rack and stack, inventory hardware, power cycle devices, patch cable install/removal). Hands‑on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems (see below). Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Ability to coordinate, supervise, and communicate with contractors. Quick learner, problem‑solver, and able to work in high‑stress environment. Comfortable with shift work (nights, holidays, weekends). Systems Experience (Examples) Chilled water systems, large centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, water treatment systems, VFDs and pumps. HVAC equipment, CRAC/CRAH units, humidification systems, water heaters, water/air filters. BMS and PLC controls, emergency standby diesel generator systems, fuel/oil systems. 480/277 and 208/120 electrical generation and distribution. Static UPS systems, double interlock pre‑action systems. Academic Qualifications and Certifications High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant advanced qualification or equivalent work experience. Certifications: CPR/First Aid, NFPA 70E (can be acquired during employment). Forklift certification (or ability to obtain within specified time). Required Experience Solid, demonstrated experience in a similar role within a data centre facilities environment. Experience in mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities (data centre, hospital, semiconductor plant, power plant). Evidence of leadership in critical facilities maintenance team. Hands‑on experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting large commercial/industrial systems (see Systems Experience). Compensation Pay Range A monthly stipend will be provided to cover expenses incurred for using a personal device, if applicable. Hourly base salary is $33.90 – $50.90 and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with local and federal Wage and Hour requirements. All regular full‑time employees are eligible for an annual bonus, dependent on individual and company performance.
