About the Company Our client is a global tier-one manufacturing supplier specializing in high-volume components for the automotive and clean-tech industries. Operating a fast-paced production plant in Fremont, CA, they employ a diverse workforce of full-time exempt, non-exempt, and temporary agency personnel. They are seeking a hands-on HR Generalist to manage payroll operations, daily labor tracking, benefits, and general HR administration.
The Opportunity This role is ideal for a detail-oriented HR professional who excels in payroll execution and labor analytics. Utilizing ADP TotalSource / Workforce Now, you will lead full-cycle payroll processing for both direct employees and temporary agency staff, partner with safety leads on leave administration, and produce daily labor cost reports for site leadership and corporate headquarters. Required Qualifications & Skills- HRIS / Payroll Expertise: Proven experience using ADP TotalSource or ADP Workforce Now is strictly required.
- Payroll Experience: 3+ years of hands-on payroll processing for both exempt/non-exempt FTEs and temporary agency staffing.
- Excel Skills: Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel (formulas, data sorting, reporting) for labor cost analysis.
- Leave Management: Experience administering FMLA and statutory California leaves alongside safety/workers' compensation teams.
- Language Skills (Preferred): Fluency or conversational proficiency in Mandarin, Spanish, or Vietnamese is highly advantageous given the diverse plant workforce.
- Certifications (Preferred): Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), PHR, or SHRM-CP credentials are a plus, but not required.

- Payroll Administration & Labor Analytics (50%):
- Process weekly payroll for temporary agency workers and biweekly payroll for regular full-time exempt and non-exempt employees using ADP .
- Participate in daily operational stand-ups to review labor reports, tracking overtime, double-time, and daily headcount.
- Reconcile labor bookkeeping records, track temporary staffing costs, and generate performance and labor cost reports for corporate headquarters.
- Administer 401(k) contributions, processing, and employee reporting.
- Benefits & Leave Administration (20%):
- Manage full-cycle Leave of Absence (LOA) programs, including FMLA, CFRA, and disability leaves, in close coordination with the Safety Department.
- Oversee day-to-day benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee inquiries via ADP.
- Talent Acquisition & Onboarding (15%):
- Assist department managers with interviewing, recruiting, and onboarding candidates for open plant and administrative positions.
- Partner with staffing agencies to manage temporary labor pipelines and vendor relations.
- General HR Operations & Compliance (15%):
- Maintain HRIS employee records, ensuring compliance with California and federal labor laws in a non-union manufacturing environment.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations, policy questions, and general HR administrative needs.
