As a Locum Radiation Oncologist, you will play a vital role in diagnosing, treating, and managing cancer patients through advanced radiation therapy techniques. You will work on-site alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, ensuring seamless coordination of care and optimal patient outcomes. Your contribution will directly impact the quality of oncology services provided to the Jefferson City community.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert radiation oncology consultations for new and existing patients
• Develop comprehensive radiation therapy treatment plans based on individual patient diagnosis and staging
• Oversee and supervise radiation therapy administration, ensuring accuracy and patient safety
• Collaborate with medical oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and support staff to deliver integrated cancer care
• Review patient imaging studies, pathology reports, and medical histories to determine optimal treatment strategies
• Monitor patients throughout the course of treatment and adjust care plans as clinically indicated
• Document all patient encounters, treatment rationale, and outcomes while maintaining accurate EMR records
• Educate patients and their families on treatment protocols, potential side effects, and follow-up care
• Participate in tumor boards and multidisciplinary case reviews to ensure comprehensive disease management
• Adhere to all regulatory, safety, and quality standards governing radiation oncology practice
• Provide timely on-site coverage and respond to patient needs within the practice
• Support quality improvement initiatives to advance the standard of oncology care

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
• Board certification in Radiation Oncology
• Valid, unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Missouri
• Associate-level clinical experience in radiation oncology
• Demonstrated expertise in radiation therapy techniques including IMRT, IGRT, SRS, and SBRT
• Strong clinical judgment, diagnostic, and decision-making abilities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient interaction and team collaboration
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and radiation treatment planning systems
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary medical team
• Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and quality care
• Willingness to work full-time on-site in Jefferson City under a contract arrangement

Schedule: 8a-5p, specific dates

Weekly Volume: 15-20 patients on treatments

Patient Population: Adults

Required Procedures: SBRT, SRS, etc

Support Staff: RN and Radiation Therapists

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified

CSR required
