Nurse Practitioner - Neurosurgery

We currently have an opportunity for an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in the DGSOM, Department ofNeurosurgery's Spine Program. Will need to travel between Santa Monica, Westwood andEncino facilities.The NP functions in an interdependent role byimplementing the appropriate Standardized Procedures (SPs). By using the SPsthe NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptomsof illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition anddetermines if they are abnormal findings (Ca Nursing Practice Act, subsection(b)of Section 2725).The NP will provide and coordinate the care ofpatients, provide patient/family education,promote safe continuity ofcare.The NP also participates in interdisciplinary and clinicalrounds, provides education and support, as well as makes appropriate referrals : Performand document comprehensive history and physical examinations on allpre-operative patients. Manage medical care of established/return/post oppatients in collaboration with attending physicians with an independentoutpatient clinic. Assure continuity of patient care at the Ronald Reagan UCLAMedical Center,Santa Monica Hospital, and varioussatellite outpatient facilities by means for evaluation and management ofoutpatient to inpatient coordination of care.

Inpatient responsibilities include toassist in the operating room as needed.Act as aliaison between nursing staff at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, SantaMonica Hospital, and various satellite outpatient facilities and physicians toprovide effective and consistent patient care. Act as a liaison betweenpatients and physicians as well as administrative staff and physicians inmedically related situations. Review and interpret all diagnostic data andformulate a plan of care in collaboration with physicians and other members ofthe medical staff. Document services rendered.

Salary range:

NP1: $84.62/hour

NP2: $93.81- $133.97/hourly

• CA RN and CA NP License-required
• MSN/DNP in Adult Acute Care NP ( AG - ACNP) Specialty-required
• National Board NP Certification in NP Specialty-required
• DEA, Furnishing Number
• BLS and ACLS Certifications from AHA or ARC- required
• Experience: 1 year experience with neurosurgical procedures- preferred
• will consider a new grad NP with relevant RN experience
• NP1: less than 6 months experience
