The guiding principles of people, teamwork, integrity, safety, and innovation are the core of our corporate identity, steering us towards a future where we continue to meet the evolving needs of society and the environment.The RoleThe Environmental Health & Safety Manager (EHS) is responsible to ensure compliance with all safety rules and regulations, the physical security of all company locations, and to assist individuals to be in compliance. This position is responsible for ensuring that Somic America, Inc. is in compliance with all agencies (OSHA and EPA) regulations, training, and any other requirements by such agencies, our insurance companies, and company requirements.The EHS Manager will serve as a subject matter expert on all safety, compliance, regulatory and related insurance requirements.What You'll DoServe on corporate and division safety committees; review and discuss safety needs, provide updates, training, DOT, Hazmat, OSHA and related safety and compliance information.Provide subject matter expertise in manufacturing process safety ensuring industry best practice.Provide assistance to ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements this may include but is not limited to administering industrial hygiene tests, coordinating repairs and upgrades or similar tasks as assigned.Site inspections and corrective action(s): 1. Train and direct management to inspect facilities, work sites and equipment for violations and hazards. 2. Provide direction to management on correcting identified problems in a timely manner. 3. Follow up to make sure all corrective actions were taken and completed. 4. Assist where needed.Responsible for updating, maintaining and auditing location safety standards and procedures on a quarterly basis.Develop effective training programs for managers/employees that will efficiently cover all needed/required materials and reduce travel.Investigate all accidents to determine the root cause and provide recommendations that eliminate or reduce future hazard or risk.Track and control inventory of safety supplies and equipment and work with division managers to keep adequate safety supplies on-hand.Assist with training for new hires and provide ongoing training of all employees.Review and update MSDS library and update as neededEvaluate the effectiveness of the safety program using established goals and make recommendations, and implement corrective action(s) based on industry standards and best practices.Conduct an applicable training for Somic America, Inc. that promotes a safe, healthy, and secure work environment that includes emergency situations (like tornados, fires), use of the alarm system, and anything else necessary to promote a safe work environment.Serves as a safety/compliance liaison with outside organizations, including safety and compliance audits.What We're Looking ForExtensive knowledge of OSHA and EPA, other governmental regulations and laws including OSHA 300 logs and requirements by our insurance providers.Knowledge of instructional methods and training techniquesPrevious implementation of ISO 14001Ability to travel occasionallyWhat You'll BringBachelor’s degree in safety or related field or equivalent work experience.5 years safety management experience.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.Knowledge of statistics, data collection and analysis.Knowledge of federal and state regulations.Proficient in MS Office products.What We PreferOSHA General Industry 10 or 30 hour training courseWhat We OfferVery Affordable Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance with telemed/teledoc options401k with a 4% company matchCompany paid benefits including Basic life & AD&D, Long term disability, and Short term Disability.Supplemental plans offered such as additional life & AD&D, critical illness, plus many moreWellness programs and employee assistance resourcesProfessional development support10 paid holidaysPTO to relax and rechargeBi-weekly payFun company events such as BBQ’s, holiday parties, and family outings.Salary: $63,700-$103,100 DOETravel: 25%Equal Opportunity Employment StatementSomic America, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state/provincial, or local laws.
