Hiring Agency Energy & Environment Cabinet | Department for Natural Resources Location Location Varies Description This position includes work in Bath, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Floyd, Greenup, Johnson, Lawrence, Lewis,Magoffin, Martin, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, Pike, Rowan, and Wolfe Counties. For more information on what our cabinet has tooffer, check out our YouTube page: and our Careers page: By joining the Division of Conservation as an Environmental Scientist II in Northeastern Kentucky, you willhave the opportunity to work with soil and water conservation districts and watershed conservancy districts toassist them as they carry out their mission. This includes providing education and interpreting policies,procedures, and regulations to district officials and employees, as well as members of the public. Holders of the Environmental Scientist II position will complete tasks such as: Serving as technical advisor to conservation districts and watershed conservancy districts. Researching and answering questions about federal and state conservation programs. Creating and presenting training modules for district officials and employees. Working with landowners and agriculture producers as they navigate federal and state conservation programs. Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position: Good communication skills. Knowledge of and ability to work with Microsoft Office programs. Agricultural knowledge or background. Ability to work with variety of people from different backgrounds. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a related area. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in a natural, biological, or physical science will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in natural resources, environmental control, engineering, or a related area will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE Working Conditions Work is typically performed in an office setting. Incumbents in this class may perform work in the field with frequent travel on a statewide basis. An incumbent in the position may be subject to adverse weather conditions, exposure to snakes and insects, water-borne pathogens, broken glass, rusty metal in streams, and hazards common to operation of electro-fishing equipment, which require the following of safety procedures.
