Job Opportunity – Critical Care Registered Nurse – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 12, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 8 or 12-hour options available (1900-0730), every other weekend required, some holiday coverage

• Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• 3:1 patient ratios for both day and night shifts with 28 hours of orientation

Requirements:

• Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact state license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
• Minimum 5 years of critical care nursing experience required
• At least 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in critical care specialty
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Must pass telemetry exam prior to start (80% passing score with strict criteria for lethal rhythms and heart blocks)
• Competency in multiple ICU specialties essential, including experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive drips, CRRT, and complex cardiac and neuro patients
• Epic charting experience required
• NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Must reside 50 miles or more from facility

Key Clinical Skills:

• Advanced critical care competencies including arterial line management, central line care, CVP monitoring, pulmonary artery catheter management
• Ventilator management and care of mechanically ventilated patients including BiPAP/CPAP
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, continuous cardiac drip titration
• Neurocritical care including ICP monitoring, external ventricular drains, post-craniotomy care, traumatic brain injury management
• CRRT/CVVHD, blood product administration, IV insulin protocols, and procedural sedation
• Care of complex cardiac patients including post-cardiac surgery, IABP, and pre/post cardiac interventions
• Experience with ECMO and Impella preferred

Additional Details:

• Floating to various ICU units required based on patient care needs
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required
• Approximately 6-7 weekend shifts per contract period
• Care for adult and geriatric populations in high-acuity settings
• Parking permit required if parking onsite; alternative transportation options available
