The ideal candidate is passionate about building scalable, high-performance applications, contributing to architectural decisions, and solving complex technical challenges. In this role, you will help design, develop, and optimize cloud-based applications and infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and champion engineering best practices that support operational excellence.The successful candidate will have experience delivering end-to-end solutions across the full technology stack, mentoring engineers, and fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning. Experience with cloud platforms, DevOps, CI/CD, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles is highly desirable. Exposure to software delivery and release management is a plus.What You’ll Work OnDesign and architect scalable features for our Direct-to-Consumer e-commerce platform built on Next.js and AzureOwn critical systems including payment processing, CMS integration, authentication, and commerce workflowsLead technical initiatives from design through deployment, ensuring performance, security, and reliabilityBuild and optimize our TypeScript monorepo using Turborepo, balancing shared code with application independenceDrive integration strategy for third-party platforms including CommerceTools, Contentful, Auth0, Braze, and payment gatewaysEstablish engineering standards and best practices across testing, monitoring, and deploymentMentor mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidanceCollaborate with Product, Design, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutionsOptimize application performance including Core Web Vitals, bundle size, and serverless function efficiencyContribute to architectural decisions that impact the scalability and maintainability of the platformChampion accessibility, internationalization, and compliance requirements (GDPR, PCI-DSS)QualificationsBachelor’s degree in software engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in full-stack rolesExpert-level proficiency in TypeScript with deep understanding of advanced types, generics, and type safety patternsExtensive experience building production applications with React and Next.js (App Router, Server Components, API routes)Proven track record building and scaling e-commerce platforms with hands-on experience in Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) business modelsStrong understanding of payment systems, including third-party integrations, fraud prevention, and PCI complianceExperience architecting and maintaining serverless applications (Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, or similar)Deep knowledge of web architecture, performance optimization, and scalable infrastructureExperience with headless CMS platforms and content modelingProficiency with modern testing strategies including unit, integration, and E2E testingStrong communication skills and ability to influence technical decisions across teamsExperience mentoring engineers and elevating team technical capabilitiesPreferred QualificationsExperience with Azure ecosystem (Functions, Service Bus, Blob Storage, Application Insights) or equivalent AWS servicesHands-on experience with CommerceTools or similar commerce platformsDeep knowledge of Next.js including streaming, caching strategies, and edge runtime optimizationExperience with monorepo tools like TurborepoKnowledge of authentication protocols (OAuth 2.0, SAML, JWT) and identity providers like Auth0Experience with error monitoring tools such as Sentry or New RelicUnderstanding of CDN strategies, edge computing, and global content deliveryExperience with Docker, containerization, and CI/CD pipelinesContributions to open source or demonstrated thought leadership in the web development communityApply NowLearn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives: Follow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
