- Develop, write, and optimize CMM inspection programs (e.g., QxSoft CMM Manager, PolyWorks or equivalent software) from engineering drawings, 3D models (CAD), and GD&T specifications.
- Set up and operate CMM equipment to perform dimensional inspection of incoming, in-process, and finished parts.
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 or customer-specified requirements, and compile complete, accurate FAI reports for submission to customers for approval.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to determine appropriate inspection methods and datums.
- Select, calibrate, and use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, surface plates, etc.) to support and verify CMM results.
- Analyze inspection data and generate clear, accurate inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and supporting quality documentation.
- Identify and document non-conforming material and support root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate calibration and preventive maintenance of CMM equipment and related gauging.
- Archive and maintain CMM programs, inspection records, and FAI documentation in accordance with company and customer quality system requirements.
- Support internal and external quality audits (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, customer audits) by providing inspection data, programs, and records as requested.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality personnel to resolve dimensional discrepancies and improve part conformance.
- Assist with additional quality department duties as assigned by the Quality Manager, which may include in-process inspection, receiving inspection, SPC data collection, gauge calibration, and quality system documentation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized inspection work area and follow all safety and quality procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating a CMM in a manufacturing environment; CMM programming experience required.
- Experience preparing First Article Inspection (FAI) reports (AS9102 preferred) in an aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Experience in an AS9100 or ISO 9001 certified quality system preferred.
- Proficiency with CMM programming software (e.g., QxSoft CMM Manager, PolyWorks, or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and blueprint reading.
- Skilled in the use of standard and precision measuring/inspection equipment.
- Familiarity with FAI requirements and customer approval processes (AS9102 or equivalent).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and communicating with customers, engineering, and production teams.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and quality/ERP software systems.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to support root cause and corrective action investigations.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and comply with OSHA standards.
