Machinist General/ Set-up

Job Description You will be the Machinist General/Set-up for the team which is responsible for planning, laying out work for setting up, and operating various types of power feed milling machines and automatic electrically or hydraulically controlled duplicating and profiling machine tools. Responsibilities As the Machinist General/Set-up, you will be responsible for setting up power machine tools and operating machines for trial runs and to make short runs on complex parts. Your responsibilities will include: Setting up and operating computer numerically controlled (CNC) milling machines fully utilizing preprogrammed operations and subroutines Recording data and commands for subsequent use by assigned machine operators or machinists Setting up and operating standard power machine tools such as broaching machines, semi-automatic boring machine, single and multiple spindle drill press, radial drill press, shaper, planer, boring mill, milling machine, engine lathe, slotter, jog borer, turret lathe, precision grinding machine, duplicating and profiling machine Working to exacting tolerances and laying out parts using precision measuring instruments, machinist hand tools, machinist handbooks, tables and charts Applying machine shop theory, practice and procedure, and having a working knowledge of the capacities and limitations of the basic power machine tools Benefits We are committed to supporting your work‑life balance and overall well‑being, offering flexible scheduling options. Qualifications The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled and experienced machinist with a strong knowledge of machine shop theory, practice and procedure, and the machinability of metals. You will have excellent problem‑solving skills, the ability to read and interpret complex detail and assembly blueprints and sketches, and the ability to use mathematics, including trigonometry. Basic Qualifications Six years experience in a combination of three of the following skill areas at the machinist level (minimum 2 years in each): CNC Mill Machinist Boring Machinist Planer Machinist Precision Grinder Machine Tools Set‑Up Machinist Engine & Turret Lathe‑CNC Machinist Conventional Milling Machine Machinist Completion of a certified apprenticeship in Tool & Die Making, Machinist, or a comprehensive industrial‑based machinist training program (typically 6,000‑8,000 hours) is considered equivalent. Condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to paid time off benefits.
