Research Assistant 1 The University of Miami/UHealth department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Research Assistant 1 to work in Boca Raton, FL. The Research Assistant 1 contributes to research investigators by providing research and experimentation support while following established protocols. The Research Assistant 1 performs a clerical role to ensure the smooth operations of office facilities. Core Responsibilities Sets up and operates various scientific apparatus and makes minor repairs. Prepares correspondence and answers phones. Formulates and maintains bibliographies and completes applications and forms. Orders laboratory supplies and maintains culture media reagents. Reviews and edits various materials for publication and prepares publication schedules. Maintains appropriate logs, records, and study notebooks. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Department Specific Functions Work as part of a team to initiate and manage research studies in the most optimal fashion. Ensure the accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Good Clinical Practices, HIPPA and required obligations to patients, research participants, Principal Investigator, research team and the sponsor. Work may include directly interface with patients and research participants subjects. Work closely with the Director as part of an interprofessional, transdisciplinary team to provide an outstanding, comprehensive research experience. Demonstrates critical judgment to maintain the integrity of the research protocol without compromising patient safety. Demonstrates appropriate skills relating to the execution of research protocols, such as determining eligibility, exclusion criteria, identifying need for modifications and adverse responses. Create and maintain participant charts & coordinate participant appointments Collects, organizes and maintains source documentation. Ensure protocol is being followed as approved by the IRB Enter research and clinical data into study databases and records systems with a high level of accuracy, following established protocols to ensure data integrity throughout the research process Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews of entered records, checking for accuracy, completeness, and consistency, and flagging or correcting any discrepancies before data is finalized Retrieve data from laboratory and clinical machines and upload it into the appropriate data management systems, ensuring proper labeling, formatting, and timely transfer for use by the research team Interacts with research participants, faculty, and staff in a courteous and professional manner. Performs other work-related duties and complete projects as assigned. Core Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree or higher in an appropriate area of specialization preferred. Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required. 2 years of related experience and training in psychology, biological sciences, cognitive neuroscience, social work, sociology, medicine, public health, or neuroscience, preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications. Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to perform high quality data entry and administrative tasks. Familiarity with computer entry and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Excel, REDCAP) Excellent organizational skills/attention to detail, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. Experience in working with elderly population is recommended. Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work and make decisions independently. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
