As a Bakery Manager , you are responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Bakery department, and you will supervise a team of Partners. Key Responsibilities Management: Spend majority of time using independent judgment to make employment‑related and business decisions or recommend such decisions, including product‑ and department‑related strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, suspending, discharging, rewarding, or otherwise engaging in resolving Partner‑related matters. Train School of Retail Management (SORM) and School of Retail Leadership (SORL) trainees. Assist all Partners in the department with their duties; coach, train, and evaluate as needed. Hold Partners accountable for following SOPs. Prepare work schedules, order product, control inventory, and monitor department budget and payroll. Production: Prepare the production plan and ensure correct quantities are produced. Maintain correct product levels by conducting weekly reviews of production quantities. Monitor showcase production and stale tracking. Accountable for the results of the Bakery Scorecard. Sales: Execute merchandising programs and drive sales by producing appropriate variety and quantity of bakery products daily. Responsible for large product assortment and sales volume. Increase department contribution by effectively managing shrink and inventory levels. Maintain the highest levels of customer service through personal example, SOP compliance, and accountability. Food Safety & Sanitation: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and H‑E‑B policy and standards for product food safety and sanitation. Maintain safety and sanitation of equipment and the department; maintain sanitation standards throughout the work area. Qualifications 3+ years of leadership experience. Certified Bakery Expert or equivalent (e.g., Retail Bakery Association‑Certified Master Baker preferred). SORM or equivalent. Food Safety certification. Forklift / power jack training. Desired Skills Advanced interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. Strong leadership, analytical, organization, and planning skills. Feedback skills. Computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel) and H‑E‑B systems. Ability to adapt to stressful situations with change management. Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks. Effective delegation. Physical Requirements Function in a fast‑paced retail environment. Stand and lift 50 pounds occasionally. Stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, reach overhead, and move side‑to‑side throughout the shift. Possess hand/finger dexterity. Safely maneuver around moving mechanical parts. Work in a cooler environment on a regular basis and occasionally in an extreme cold environment. Work in extreme heat from ovens and fryers.
