Quality Technician

The Quality Technician thoroughly inspects materials, procedures, and products to ensure consistent quality and reliability. This role conducts a variety of tests and inspections, identifies defects, and collaborates closely with the production, quality, and engineering teams to implement improvements. The technician supports the maintenance of high quality standards and helps deliver reliable, high-performance products to customers, with a particular focus on automotive quality requirements and technical testing.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly check materials, procedures, and finished products to ensure they meet established quality and reliability standards.
• Conduct various tests and inspections on manufactured products and purchased products to identify defects and verify compliance with quality standards.
• Prepare, package, and ship customer samples and prototype orders in an accurate and timely manner.
• Receive, identify, catalog, and store customer wheels and wheel supplier wheels in accordance with internal procedures.
• Maintain accurate inventory of wheels and related items based on customer requirements.
• Perform retention tests on products and document all data, observations, and test results clearly and accurately.
• Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams to provide test data, assist with troubleshooting, and support validation of processes.
• Use Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and other quality testing equipment to measure and verify product dimensions and characteristics.
• Hand spray powder coating samples and prototype parts for outside laboratory testing, ensuring proper preparation and handling.
• Read and interpret quality documents and engineering drawings to measure, test, and compare products against specifications.
• Conduct inspections and tests on products to identify defects and nonconformances and ensure products comply with applicable quality standards.
• Document test results, prepare clear and concise reports, and maintain accurate records of all quality inspections and tests.
• Use Microsoft Office applications to record data, prepare documentation, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
• Support internal and external audits by providing test records, inspection documentation, and quality data as required.
• Assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions based on test results, audit findings, and process validations.

Essential Skills

• 3–5 years of experience in testing and troubleshooting within a quality and automotive environment.
• Automotive quality experience, including familiarity with automotive parts testing and related quality control processes.
• IATF audit experience and understanding of automotive quality management system requirements.
• Ability to obtain internal auditor certification in both IATF and ISO standards.
• Hands-on experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for dimensional inspection and verification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
• Strong quality testing and technical knowledge, including use of quality control and quality assurance tools.
• Ability to read and understand quality documents, engineering drawings, and specifications.
• Experience conducting inspections, quality audits, and documenting findings in a structured format.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when performing tests, inspections, and documentation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Quality and Engineering teams to support process validation and troubleshooting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with automotive parts testing and quality control testing equipment is preferred.
• Knowledge of quality standards and regulations in the automotive industry is preferred.
• Experience preparing, packaging, and shipping customer samples and prototype orders.
• Experience with inventory control, including receiving, identifying, cataloging, and storing products or components.
• Comfort working with powder coating processes, including hand spraying samples and prototype parts.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records, test data, and inventory documentation.
• Effective communication skills to clearly present test results and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to support internal and external audits through preparation of documentation and evidence of compliance.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Smyrna, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $78000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
