Apigee / API Platform Architect

You will serve as the lead architect on an enterprise API platform modernization program. This is a high-visibility engagement covering IBM APIC/DataPower-to-Apigee migration strategy, multi-cloud Apigee buildout (GCP, AWS GovCloud, Azure GovCloud, Azure External), and ongoing architecture governance. You will interact directly with the client’s Enterprise Architecture, Cloud, and Security teams and be the single point of technical accountability. Key Responsibilities Lead evaluation of Apigee Hybrid vs. X vs. On-Prem deployment models against IBM APIC/DataPower workloads Produce IBM-to-Apigee comparative gap analysis covering feature parity, licensing tradeoffs, and cloud residency requirements Design phased migration roadmap with test/validation criteria, rollback triggers, and consumer communication plans Define coexistence/interoperability guidance during parallel running of IBM and Apigee environments Design networking, security zones, disaster recovery, and cost-optimized runtime/management plane topology Capture Apigee Analytics requirements and define telemetry, reporting, and dashboard specifications Design external developer portal and internal API catalog strategy (single vs. dual catalog, monetization, personalization) Provide AI/MCP recommendations for Apigee platform optimization and GTM acceleration Governance & Deliverables Produce current-state architecture assessment with prioritized remediation list and decision log Drive architecture sign-off with the client’s EAID, Cloud, and Security teams Define training and certification roadmap for the client’s internal Apigee team Enforce architecture standards across all developers and engineers on the engagement Required Qualifications 8+ years in API management / integration architecture 4+ years hands‑on Apigee (Hybrid or X); deep understanding of management plane, runtime plane, and control plane topology Proven experience migrating from IBM APIC or MuleSoft to Apigee Multi‑cloud expertise: GCP, AWS, and Azure — including GovCloud environments Strong security background: TLS/mTLS, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, PING Federate, WSSO integration Ability to produce executive-level architecture documents and lead design reviews Google Professional Cloud Architect or Apigee API Engineer certification (or must obtain within 60 days of start) Preferred Qualifications Experience with GovCloud (FedRAMP, ITAR, NIST 800-171) Experience with AI/MCP integration patterns for API platforms #J-18808-Ljbffr Objectways
