Phlebotomist (Expert Level)

Perform blood draws, including venipuncture and general specimen collection

Label, centrifuge, split, and prepare specimens according to test requirements

Record maintenance data and perform routine decontamination procedures

Accurately update and maintain patient information

Collect and store specimens in accordance with established procedures

Clearly and professionally explain the collection process (blood, urine, fecal, etc.) to patients

Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and butterfly needles

Review and fully understand physician orders prior to specimen collection

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes with 100% accuracy

Verify all test requisitions and labels against orders to ensure correctness

Package specimens for transport following proper protocols

Store specimens at required temperatures to maintain integrity

Follow all OSHA and DEP regulations and safety standards

Attend required annual department trainings

Answer incoming calls and assist with laboratory-related inquiries, including communicating results when appropriate

Valid Phlebotomy Certification (as required by state regulations)

Minimum 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting

High School Diploma or GED

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

5–7 years of relevant experience

Expert Level

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
