Job Description and Duties

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one Limited Term, Full-time Analyst II position within the Office of the Commissioner. This position is located in the Sacramento office. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions within the next 180 days.

Under the direction of the Executive Operations Director, in the Office of the Commissioner, the LT Analyst II will be responsible for providing analytical, administrative, and executive support to the Commissioner of the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation. The LT Analyst must report to and work from the department's Sacramento office a minimum of 4 days/week. Occasional travel may be required.

Working Conditions

This job requires reporting on site, however, telework may be available once established.

Sacramento Location: The Sacramento office is in the new state-of-the-art May Lee State Office Complex in Sacramento's River District, conveniently located next to Light Rail. On site parking available for a fee.

This is a limited-term position that may be extended up to 24 months or may become permanent.

Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each full-time employee shall receive a reduction in pay in exchange for PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the reduction in pay.

SEIU Bargaining units (1, 3, 4, 11, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21) will receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 per month.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST
This position is subject to Title 10, § 250.30 of the California Code of Regulations, the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation’s Conflict of Interest Regulations, the incumbent is required to submit a Statements of Economic Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually by April 1st and within 30 days of leaving office.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience directly supporting a senior Executive or working directly with a Senior Executive on highly sensitive projects.
  • Experience coordinating complex administrative and operational functions (calendar management, travel coordination, budgets/reimbursements, records management, etc.) for a senior Executive in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Experience facilitating/coordinating/executing meetings and communications on behalf of a senior Executive.
  • Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to create, manage, and maintain complex Excel tables, reports, and database-style tracking systems with a high level of accuracy.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ)

1. Describe your experience developing and maintaining tracking systems or databases to monitor scheduling requests, expenses, or manage projects. Please include specific examples of what tools or methods you used to track expenses, manage scheduling requests, and track progress of special projects. How did your work contribute to increasing efficiencies and how did your efforts support effective decision-making for your organization or executive?

2. Provide one example of a time when you managed multiple complex administrative and operational functions simultaneously for an Executive under tight or competing deadlines. What were the specific functions you were managing, how did you prioritize and organize your work, what tools or systems did you use, and what was the outcome?
