AGENCY DESCRIPTION:

FHAR (Family Housing and Adult Resources) is a multi-service agency that provides residential, supported/independent living, behavior management, and vocational/behavioral day program support services to adults who have intellectual and developmental special needs. As one of the largest service providers in San Mateo County, FHAR is recognized as a leader and innovator of services within the developmental disability service delivery system. POSITION:

Receive a $1,000 sign-up bonus after successfully completing a 90-day probationary period.

The Day Program Directo r will oversee all program operations, including the development and delivery of the vocational and life-critical skill training day program services provided at FHAR's behavioral Adult Development Center and FHAR's Employment Support Services program, both of which are located in San Mateo. The two programs are licensed to serve 102 program participants and employ 42 staff, including two program managers. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, leading the development of vocational and life critical skill individual program plans that include a structured behavior management system if needed; development and implementation of a therapeutic educational life critical skills curriculum that support these plans; hiring, training, supervising and evaluating program staff in the implementation of the curriculum; evaluating program effectiveness; leading program expansion; developing positive relationships in the community including program participant families and caseworkers; ensuring regulatory compliance with Community Care Licensing, State Department of Developmental Services, Department of Labor, CAL-OSHA, and other regulatory agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of a BA preferred in Human Services/relevant field. Valid CA driver's license with acceptable DMV report. Criminal Justice clearance. Three years of management experience in social services or related field preferred. Experience in life-critical skills, vocational, and community-based curriculum in the field of developmental disabilities preferred. Ability to develop policy and procedures. Ability to develop, evaluate, and maintain record-keeping systems. Knowledge of federal and state laws governing program operations and staff. Knowledge of Community Care Licensing and Department of Developmental Services regulations preferred. Knowledge of Regional Center requirements and Title 22 and Title 17 regulations preferred.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written skills. Training in applied behavior analysis and CPI or Pro-Act instructor certification highly preferred. Commitment to high standards and quality assurance. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software systems. Physical Demands: While performing the job, the employee will be required to drive a car and must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Must be able to navigate stairs and will be responsible for physically responding to client needs in the event of an emergency or crisis situation.
