Enterprise Risk Director

Opportunity OverviewThe Enterprise Risk Director will lead a critical portfolio within Edward Jones' Enterprise Risk Management framework, including Risk Identification & Assessment, Controls, Issues Management and Incident Management. This leader will shape how the firm consistently identifies, assesses, manages, escalates and learns from risk across the enterprise—turning framework expectations into practical, adopted and sustainable ways of working. The role is responsible for the development, continuous improvement, adoption and adherence of these ERM capabilities across the firm, partnering closely with first-line risk teams, business leaders and control functions to strengthen risk visibility, accountability and decision-making. The Enterprise Risk Director leads a team of risk professionals and reports directly to the Head of Enterprise Risk Management.What You'll Do:Own and mature key components of the ERM framework across the Risk Management Lifecycle, with direct accountability for Risk Identification & Assessment, Controls, Issues Management and Incident Management.Set the strategy, standards and roadmap for these framework capabilities, ensuring they are practical, scalable and aligned to the firm's strategic objectives, risk appetite, regulatory expectations and industry practices.Drive enterprise adoption and adherence by translating framework requirements into clear expectations, tools, routines and governance mechanisms that support consistent execution across business areas.Partner with first-line risk teams, business leaders and control functions to strengthen risk identification, assessment quality, control effectiveness, issue remediation discipline and incident learning.Provide enterprise-level risk insights that help leaders understand emerging themes, prioritize significant risks, address control or execution gaps and make informed decisions.Modernize the framework by advancing a more data-driven, technology-powered and continuous approach to risk identification and assessment, enabling earlier risk sensing, stronger insights and more timely enterprise action.Lead ongoing framework enhancements, including methodology improvements, governance routines, reporting, training, quality assurance and integration with GRC technology.Build strong relationships across the enterprise and serve as a trusted advisor on risk practices, helping teams apply the ERM framework in a way that is consistent, risk-based and business-relevant.Foster a proactive, accountable and transparent risk culture by enabling leaders and teams to surface, assess, escalate and manage risk effectively.Lead and develop a team of risk professionals, setting clear priorities, building capabilities and creating an environment where people can do meaningful, high-impact work.Position RequirementsWhat you'll need:Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, Organizational Leadership or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.6+ years of experience in enterprise risk management, operational risk, controls, issue management, incident management, compliance, audit or a related risk discipline.Demonstrated experience developing, implementing or improving risk frameworks, methodologies, standards, processes or governance routines in a complex organization.Strong ability to influence through relationships, lead through ambiguity and drive adoption across matrixed teams and stakeholders.Strong knowledge of financial services, wealth management or other regulated industries.What will set you apart:Advanced degree or professional certification such as CRMP, FRM, PRM, CPA, CIA, CISA or related risk, audit, compliance or control certification.11+ years of experience leading enterprise-wide risk, controls, issue management, incident management, compliance, audit or governance capabilities.Experience leading framework transformation, maturing risk programs or implementing GRC-enabled processes across a large, matrixed organization.Ability to connect risk practices to business strategy, regulatory expectations and executive-level decision-making.People leadership experience with a track record of building strong teams, developing talent and creating clarity in periods of change.Company DescriptionJoin a financial services firm where your contributions are valued.
