RN - Hospice

Registered Nurse

Provides, coordinates, and directs the provision of home nursing care according to physician's orders. Care is based on agency policies and procedures through the competent application of the nursing process. Responsible to the Clinical Manager. Directly supervises and evaluates Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses. Home visits are required along with periodic office meetings. Reliable transportation, current driver's license, and agency-required liability insurance are necessary. Average number of patients per day is 5-8. Contractor is assigned between 5-10 patients per day, which equates to roughly 6-8 points. Types of cases include Start of Care, Wound Care, and Follow-up Visits. Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic. Mileage is reimbursed at the IRS standard rate. Commute to and from the first and last patient is not billable. Must be proficient with the electronic medical record system used within the last 6 months. All documentation must be completed within 24 hours of the appointment. Delayed and incomplete documentation that impacts billing and follow-up patient care will result in a cancel. No guaranteed hours with this contract. Must be open to traveling up to 75 miles away from the assigned care center. Must have a vehicle, driver's license, and auto insurance. Candidate must be open to on-call rotations and understand expectations regarding patient acceptance. Local applicants are accepted at the same rate. First-time applicants are not accepted; recent specialty experience is required. Experience in hospice and home health is preferred. Must have experience with documentation systems relevant to the specialty.
