Join Our Dynamic Surgical Team as a Medical-Surgical RN!

Job Description:


- Location: San Antonio, TX
- Unit: Surgical (612)
- Shift: 7P-7:30A
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week

Key Responsibilities:


- Provide comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients.
- Monitor patient progress and tailor care plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for effective patient management.

Qualifications:


- Must have an active TX RN License (Temp Licenses are no longer accepted).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing.
- Proficient in IV-peripheral start and care, central line care, and management of tubes/drains (NG, JP, chest tube, ostomy care).
- Must possess BLS certification.


Preferred Skills:


- Experience in tracheostomy care, wound vac management, and large dressing changes.
- Ability to facilitate 3-way bladder irrigation and educate patients effectively.

Unit Details:


- Number of Beds: 40
- Patient Ratios: 1:5/6
- Staffing: 1 Unit Clerk on days, 3 Patient Care Assistants (PCA) on day shift, 2-3 PCA on night shift.
- Documentation System: Meditech

Dress Code:


- Scrub Color: Navy tops and pants, Navy or white scrub jacket.
- No acrylic nails or chipped nail polish; hair should be off shoulders, in natural color.
- Body art should be covered whenever possible; visible piercings other than ears are prohibited.
