Job Description
The OB-GYN Physician is responsible for the provision of inpatient care of Family HealthCare Network patients in the hospital settings. The promotion of the Patient Centered Health Home through consistent continuity and coordination of care is a priority.
Description of Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides examination, diagnoses, treatment and delivery of hospitalized OB-GYN patients, including but not limited to patients in Emergency Department, Labor and Delivery, Post Partum floor, Triage, and GYN consultation services.
- Manages the patients through the continuum of the hospital experience.
- Understanding of medical and surgical care to women, including pregnancy, childbirth, and disorders of the reproductive system
- Orders treatment and tests and consults with specialty physicians and primary care physicians when appropriate.
- Assures continuity of care by communicating with Family HealthCare Network (FHCN) outpatient providers and support staff regarding admission, status/progress, discharge, and relevant orders and prescriptions.
- Maintain affiliation with local acute care facility and assure 24-hour on call service is provided for patients.
- Participate in medical staff quality improvement and review activities at the hospital and FHCN relevant clinical measures.
- Participates in appropriate FHCN meetings and staff education.
- Accountable to and ensure a three-month schedule is provided to the assigned Medical Director.
- Will follow relevant and appropriate FHCN policies and procedures as well as assigned Hospital policies and procedures.
- Consistently behaves with courtesy when interacting with patients/family members, support staff, and Network staff.
- Assures all billing documentation is submitted accurately and in a timely manner.
- Accountable for providing care with a high level of customer service to the patient and family.
- Accountable for patient status as measured by relevant clinical quality measures.
- Assists with preceptorship of AT Still medical students and/ or residency providers, when applicable.
- Meets Network and credentialing expectations for licensure and employment.
- Responsible for adhering to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy, recognizing that regular attendance is considered an essential function of all FHCN positions. Absenteeism is not being at work or failing to attend a paid workshop, training, or event unless the absence is protected by law.
- Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location, both at the beginning of a shift or during a shift, based on business need.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Description of Primary Attributes
Professional & Technical Knowledge:
Effective June 1, 2026, all individuals hired into the role must:
- Possesses specific advanced knowledge and skills, including written and verbal communication skills, computational, computer, and technical skills, and mathematical knowledge, frequently acquired through one of the following:
- Completion of a Doctoral-level degree program with a recognized major and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; or
- Successful attainment and maintenance of a valid, active professional license required for the role, issued by the appropriate governing or regulatory body.
- Performance of the duties and responsibilities of the job requires the equivalent of extensive formal training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, including an understanding of the application of the theory and practices of the profession to the operations of the organization, usually in the form of a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.
- Have a minimum credit score of 650.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to create highly complex documents in Microsoft Word, including linking multiple files and embedding objects linked to other documents.
- Ability to use advanced functions of Microsoft Excel, such as to create and manage databases, including creating standardized reports, or linking multiple worksheets and workbooks.
- Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, including the use of embedded objects, transitions and other elements.
Licenses & Certifications: Licensed in the state of California as an OB-GYN. Board eligibility or certification in OB-GYN may be required or desired in certain positions.
Communications Skills:
- Requires the employee to effectively communicate their professional opinions and extrapolations of information they collect and synthesize/analyze.
- Employees must determine appropriate methods of communicating information through the use of tables, graphs, charts and other visual forms.
- Duties require the preparation and execution of presentations to large groups.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and use repetitive hand movements to type and grasp. The employee is frequently required to stand or walk, and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
$278,250.36 - $445,200.58 + PLUS SIGNIFICANT ADDITIONAL ANNUAL EARNING POTENTIAL through outpatient and inpatient productivity, as applicable and quality pay, generous retention payments, shift differential pay, and extra shift pay.
