Aircraft Certification Engineer - Systems

Salary: $72,000 - 100,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• We need 15+ years of aircraft certification experience focused on aircraft systems, including direct involvement in FAA type certification or supplemental type certificate (STC) programs.
• Prior exposure to military commercial derivative aircraft programs is preferred.
• We must be able to support a Tier 1 background investigation for Department of Defense contract work; an existing security clearance is preferred.
• FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) authorization in one or more disciplines is preferred.
• We require a strong working knowledge of Title 14 CFR, especially Part 25, and the FAA regulatory procedures and STC process.
• We need experience in program management, strong communication skills, and the ability to coordinate certification efforts for modifications and alterations.
• We expect experience reviewing certification artifacts such as ICA documents, ground and flight test plans, compliance checklists, and project-specific certification plans.

• We provide subject matter expertise in aircraft systems, including Environmental Control Systems, Fire Protection, and Auxiliary/Emergency Power.
• We act as the technical authority for aircraft certification, ensuring alignment with FAA rules and MIL-HDBK-516C airworthiness criteria.
• We develop, review, and execute certification plans for military commercial derivative aircraft programs.
• We coordinate with military airworthiness authorities and DER/DAR representatives to drive approval activities.
• We identify and close certification gaps created by the intersection of civil and military airworthiness requirements.
• We mentor junior engineers and help improve our internal certification processes, tools, and best practices.

We are AVTECH Global, and we are seeking an experienced Aircraft Certification Engineer - Systems to support the airworthiness certification of a military commercial derivative aircraft. This is a remote position with no relocation required, though travel to Dayton, Ohio is required at least once per month for 3-4 days at a time; all travel expenses are covered, including flights, hotel, rental car, and per diem. We offer coverage of up to one-half of the employees medical insurance premium for a base plan, along with a 401(k) plan with matching contributions.
