Content Producer - Washington, DC Bureau

Overview The Nexstar Washington, DC Bureau is seeking a Content Producer to develop, produce, and distribute news content for Nexstar’s 116 local television stations and their streaming CTV platforms, including NewsNation and TheHill.com. The DC Bureau provides coverage to markets across the country, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, and Tampa. This position is based one block from the U.S. Capitol and requires daily, in-office work. Job Summary The Content Producer works with the Executive Producer, CTV Host, reporters, photographers, and other newsroom staff to produce, write, edit, and distribute content across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms. Responsibilities include live streaming production, news gathering, video editing, and coordination of daily coverage. Responsibilities Produce and execute live and recorded streaming content, including daily programs Maintain daily event schedules and monitor news developments and political calendars Route live feeds, ingest video, and distribute content to Nexstar stations Monitor and edit news events, press conferences, and interviews for broadcast and digital use Write and edit scripts for broadcast, digital, and CTV platforms with attention to accuracy and clarity Edit video for VO/SOTS, packages, and long‑form content Develop enterprise story ideas and pitch content relevant to local audiences Research and analyze information to ensure complete and accurate reporting Coordinate and conduct interviews with lawmakers, analysts, and other newsmakers Assist with guest booking and segment production for live and taped programming Field‑produce special coverage, including live shots and interviews Publish and distribute content across websites, apps, CTV, and social media platforms Collaborate with bureau staff and Nexstar partners, including NewsNation and The Hill Ensure all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field, or equivalent work experience 2–5 years of experience in political, government, or broadcast/digital news Prior experience in news producing required Strong writing, editing, and communication skills Familiarity with live streaming and CTV production preferred Proficiency with non‑linear editing systems and digital news gathering tools (e.g., OBS, vMix, CMS platforms) Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple assignments Strong organizational and time‑management skills Knowledge of Capitol Hill, federal agencies, and political processes preferred Experience covering Washington, DC or a state capitol is a plus Valid driver’s license with a good driving record Flexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Physical Demands & Work Environment The Content Producer must be able to sit for extended periods, use standard office equipment, and communicate effectively in person and electronically. The position requires the ability to make independent decisions and work in a collaborative newsroom environment. Occasional outdoor work may be required in varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Work may occur in varying lighting conditions. Benefits and Compensation Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 based upon experience.
