Loss Control Consultant Commercial Insurance – Independent Contractor - Boise, ID Boise, ID, USA Job Description We are seeking a Loss Control Consultant with over 10 years of experience working with major insurance carriers or national brokers in commercial Property and Casualty Risk Control. The candidate will schedule on‑site surveys, provide risk evaluation and risk improvement reports to support underwriting, manage assignments, secure customer appointments, and complete work on time. Responsibilities Schedule on‑site surveys and conduct risk evaluation assessments. Prepare risk improvement reports containing recommendations to control and correct potential loss‑producing conditions. Manage accepted assignments and secure customer appointments within a local territory. Complete work assignments on time and within quality standards. Perform special or advanced risk evaluations, leveraging education, certifications, and risk control expertise. Serve a range of insured businesses from middle‑market to large multi‑location commercial enterprises. Travel to local commercial operations such as retail, restaurants, hotels, apartment complexes, construction jobsites, manufacturers, churches, schools, etc. Assess risk for various commercial lines: Property, General Liability, Workers Compensation, Auto/Fleet, Product Liability, Inland Marine, Builder's Risk. Qualifications 10+ years of risk control consulting experience. Experience with major carrier or national brokerage preferred. BS degree in Engineering, Safety, or physical sciences preferred. Professional designations such as CSP or ARM preferred but not required. Knowledge or experience in commercial insurance, inspections, or fire and life safety assessments. Strong communication skills and computer proficiency. Commitment to meeting client quality and timeliness standards. Tools & Items You Must Provide Computer with image/document scanner. Digital camera or tablet. High speed internet access. Measuring device such as a laser, 100‑ft. tape, or measuring wheel. Reliable vehicle. Auto and General Liability insurance, preferred. Commercial Lines Property/Casualty Loss Control, Underwriting, and Claims Adjuster experience preferred. Commercial insurance inspections and fire & life safety investigations/inspections experience.
