Bachelor's or Master's degree in School Psychology, active School Psychologist license and minimum 1+ years School Psychologist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a meaningful contract position as a School Psychologist supporting students and staff for the 2026-2027 academic year. With flexible caseloads and a negotiable assignment process, this opportunity near Portsmouth, VA allows you to shape your work experience to your preferences. The role runs from August 2026 through May 2027, following a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours each week, Monday through Friday, from 8:45 am to 3:45 pm.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Valid School Psychologist License in Virginia
- Deep understanding of assessment tools and psychological testing
- Ability to conduct both individual and group counseling
- Collaborative communication skills with students, families, and school personnel
- Experience with behavioral interventions and individualized educational support
- Strong organizational abilities for maintaining records and delivering timely progress reports
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, testing, and diagnostic evaluations
- Provide expert recommendations to help students enhance learning and overcome emotional or psychological challenges
- Facilitate individual and small group therapy sessions based on student needs
- Participate in the student identification and placement process to ensure appropriate educational programming
- Implement behavioral modification strategies and interventions
- Maintain clear documentation and prepare regular progress updates to support student growth
- Build effective partnerships with parents, teachers, and administration to coordinate support
