Overview Intermediate Cook (Per Diem) St. Catherine of Siena Hospital Smithtown, NY About Our Community St. Catherine of Siena Hospital is a proud member of Catholic Health, serving the North Shore of Long Island for over 50 years. Our campus features a 296‑bed not‑for‑profit community hospital, a 240‑bed nursing/rehab center, and a 60,000 sq. ft. medical office building. Key Responsibilities Food Preparation: Direct, engage in, and oversee the high-quality preparation and serving of food for patients and special functions. Station Management: Efficiently set up, break down, and restock your dedicated work area. Time Management: Coordinate daily work schedules seamlessly with the hospital meal schedules. Requirements Education: High School Diploma or GED required. (90‑hour course or equivalent education preferred) Experience: Minimum of 2 years of institutional or quantity cooking experience required. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and work comfortably over hot stoves and ovens. Lifting Capacity: Ability to safely lift heavy pots and kitchen equipment weighing 50 to 130 lbs .
