POSITION SUMMARY:
To operate computed tomography scanner to produce cross-sectional radiographs of patient’s body and operate radiologic equipment to produce radiographs for diagnostic purposes.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Explains procedures to patient.
2. Positions and immobilizes patients on examining table, using supportive devices to obtain precise patient position and following established protocol.
3. Administers contrast media orally and or intravenously as indicated. If the worklist is down enters data, such as type of scan requested, slice thickness, scan time, and other technical data into computer, using knowledge of radiologic technology and computed tomography.
4. Talks to patient over intercom system and observe patient through window of control room to monitor patient safety and comfort.
5. Views images of organs or tissue on the display screen to ensure quality or pictures or QC.
6. The Radiologic Technologist also provides Fluoroscopy services and must be
proficient in the following special procedures:
- Barium Swallow
- Esophogram
- Modified Barium Swallow
- U.G.I. Series
- Small Bowel Series
- Barium Enema / Barium Enema Air / Gastrografin Enema
- Retrograde pyelogram
- Cysto Urethrogram
- Operating room procedures as needed
7. Moves x-ray equipment into specified position and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance, based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
8. Practices radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding kills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factor, to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
9. May operate mobile-ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient’s bedside. Follows and enforces the safety rules of the department and hospital.
10. Follow special Procedures such as isolation precautions, etc. Upon completion of therapy, returns equipment to department for processing when applicable.
11. Demonstrates proper respect, attitude, courtesy, and professionalism and communication skills toward patients, staff, co-workers, doctors, administration personnel.
12. Knowledgeable of emergency procedures.
13. Participates in QAPI, safety and infection control studies as assigned.
14. May be crossed trained in other areas where applicable.
15. May be required to vary shifts and / or weekend rotation as the needs of the department dictates.
16. May include overtime, only if approved by the Director.

Ability to carry out oral and written instructions, and understand technical information from supervisors, charts, reference books, manuals and labels.

Adheres to policy and procedures as set forth by the hospital.
Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
Assists patients and their families in their needs.

Record information accurately.
Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)
Physical Demands:
Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force frequently, up to 1/3 of the time to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree and requires sitting a minimal amount of time.
Environmental Conditions:
Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
Hazards:
_ Subject to exposure to diagnostic fluids and agents.
_ Subject to exposure to radioactive materials.
Reasoning Development:
Be able to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret and direct a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.
MATHEMATICAL DEVELOPMENT:
Be able to compute standard measures, weights, ratios, volumes as are common in Radiologic Services .
LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT:
Reading:
Read and understand instructions and be able to convey instructions and guidance to subordinates.
Writing:
Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar using all parts of speech.
Speaking:
Speak with poise, authority, voice control, confidence and respect using correct English in a well-modulated voice.

QUALIFICATION:
To do this job, you must have the following amount of total education and/or experience:
Education
Must graduate from an accredited program of radiologic technology.
Current Florida Radiologic Technologist License/CT certification preferred
ARRT license.
BLS certification
Experience and Training:
Thorough knowledge of radiologic and CT technology practices, basic sciences related to mechanical and electrical systems. Minimum one year of experience
