Job Summary:
The ICU Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit and Coronary Care Unit. The role involves continuous patient monitoring, administering medications, performing advanced clinical procedures, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The nurse must maintain certifications and adhere to hospital protocols to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to ICU/CCU patients, including monitoring vital signs and managing life-support equipment.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Perform advanced clinical procedures such as airway management, IV therapy, and cardiac monitoring.
- Respond promptly to patient emergencies and changes in condition.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely in medical records.
- Assist with patient and family education regarding treatment plans and care requirements.
- Occasionally float to cover breaks and assist other units as needed.
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
- Proof of negative TB screen within 12 months prior to contract start date.
- Minimum of 3 years nursing experience preferred in ICU or critical care settings.
- Experience working in ICU or CCU environments.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- May be required to float occasionally to cover breaks and assist other units.
- Must comply with all hospital policies and infection control protocols.
- Work involves exposure to critically ill patients and potentially infectious diseases.
- Night shift (NOCS) with 36 hours guaranteed per week.
- Shift assignments may include occasional floating to other units.
