Job Summary

This role is responsible for the evaluation of donors' eligibility for automated plasmapheresis procedures. This position includes the administration and supervision of approved immunizations in accordance with state regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The role also provides limited emergency care as permitted by licensure or certification, training, and SOPs. Working knowledge of all operational areas within the plasma center is required. Additionally, the position ensures compliance with SOPs, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and all relevant regulatory guidelines.

This is What You'll Do

This role involves:

• Evaluating donor eligibility through medical history reviews, physical assessments, and informed consent discussions in accordance with SOPs, FDA, CLIA, and cGMP.
• Reviewing, documenting, and verifying donor information, immunization records, and test results in the donor management system (NexLynk).
• Classifying donors into appropriate programs and monitoring for adverse reactions, providing care as allowed by training and licensure.
• Consulting with the center Licensed Physician regarding abnormal results, donor eligibility concerns, and immunization orders.
• Counseling deferred donors, ensuring confidentiality, and referring donors to health departments when needed.
• Maintaining accurate documentation such as Physician Communication Logs and donor eligibility assessments.
• Training as a Donor Center Technician I and serving as a QA Backup when needed.
• Mentoring and training new Medical Professionals as a Designated Trainer to support workforce development.
• Supporting center compliance with SOPs, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborating with team members to ensure an efficient, donor-focused environment.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

This is What It Takes

The qualifications for this role include:

• Physician, LPN, or RN: Graduate of a recognized healthcare-related program.
• EMT Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced/Paramedic: Certification or license as an emergency medical technician, if allowable.
• One (1) year of experience in hospital, field care, or plasma center settings preferred.
• Ability to work day, evening, weekend, holiday, and extended shifts as needed.
• Current, valid state license/certification (Physician, RN, LPN, EMT, or equivalent as allowed by state).
• Current CPR certification.
• State-issued authorization or license to perform moderate complexity testing.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this role include:

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motor tasks such as drawing blood.
• Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
• Ability to reach, bend, and stoop as necessary.
• Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
• Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators (if applicable).
• Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
• Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
• Ability to view monitors less than 18" from face for extended periods.
• Ability to work in environments as cold as -40°C and handle dry ice occasionally.
• Ability to perform CPR and respond immediately to donor adverse reactions.

Pay Transparency

The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $28.47-$37.96-$47.45. Please note this wage range reflects what Octapharma Plasma expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base pay for a successful candidate within this range is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
