Senior Lead Data Architect: Information Architecture

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in data architecture and data modelling, with at least 5 years of applied experience.
• Extensive hands-on experience designing and delivering optimized models for document and raw data, OLTP 3NF, OLAP dimensional, and event or message schemas.
• Strong understanding of entities, relationships, cardinality, normalization and denormalization trade-offs, attribute abstraction, and schema evolution.
• Practical experience with system design, application development, testing, and production operations.
• Knowledge of modern lakehouse and data analytics platforms, such as Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and medallion architecture) or equivalent technologies.
• Experience applying enterprise-authorized AI to data modelling and architecture, with careful validation and awareness of data sensitivity.
• Ability to evaluate AI-assisted modelling recommendations and ensure they meet security, auditability, and resiliency expectations, escalating uncertainty when appropriate.
• Advanced knowledge of at least one programming language or technical discipline, such as cloud, AI/ML, or data platforms, alongside strong architecture and engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to independently resolve complex data model design and functionality challenges.
• Preferred: Deep expertise in data modelling and the ability to explain and teach model design choices based on consumption patterns.
• Preferred: Experience building and maintaining shared business glossaries and semantic layers across domains, including for AI-driven use.
• Preferred: Recent experience optimizing analytical or dimensional models on Databricks or comparable cloud-native platforms, including performance and cost at scale.
• Preferred: Familiarity with vector and graph modelling and retrieval patterns for AI/ML and agentic use, as well as traditional OLTP and OLAP modelling.
• Preferred: Practical experience incorporating agentic AI into modelling, documentation, and data quality workflows, including prompting and rigorous validation.
• Preferred: Experience establishing or expanding modelling standards, naming conventions, and governance practices, and mentoring modelers and engineers.
• Preferred: Exposure to schema- or contract-driven development, such as data contracts and schema registries, and safe production schema evolution.

• Set the domains end-to-end data modelling strategy, aligning logical and physical models with product and consumer needs.
• Design and optimize models across document structures, OLTP relational systems, OLAP dimensional systems, and event or message schemas.
• Establish and maintain semantic foundations, including data dictionaries, naming and namespace conventions, and attribute-level abstractions.
• Govern schema changes and model versioning, protecting downstream consumers with clear contracts and lineage expectations.
• Represent data architecture and modelling in governance forums, strengthen standards, and assess technologies against established frameworks.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, contractors, and vendors as the domains data modelling expert.
• Develop and review secure, high-quality DDL and transformation logic that implements models; troubleshoot issues and improve production readiness.
• Guide modelling choices that affect product design, application functionality, analytics, access-pattern performance, and operational stability.
• Apply enterprise-authorized AI to modelling analysis and documentation, validating results and meeting data sensitivity, security, resiliency, and auditability expectations.
• Promote reuse-first, AI-assisted validation and agentic workflows in the software development lifecycle to improve quality checks, documentation, traceability, and model usability for people and AI systems.
