Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in an educational setting near Orland Park, IL. This full-time position runs from August through May (the 2026/2027 school year), with a standard Monday to Friday schedule totaling 32 hours per week. You’ll have the chance to serve as both a classroom aide and individual aide, making a real impact on students’ growth and daily learning experience.
You’ll be working closely with students aged 3 to 21, encompassing a wide range of abilities and needs, including those with autism and various behavioral challenges. Your support will help create a positive classroom environment and contribute to the personal and academic development of each student you assist.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current and valid PEL (Professional Educator License) or Paraprofessional Certificate is required
- Prior experience working with children with autism or behavioral needs is highly valued
- Experience supporting students with disabilities across different age groups preferred
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability in dynamic classroom environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with teaching teams
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily support to classroom teachers and individual students as assigned
- Assist students in both group and one-on-one settings to ensure educational goals are met
- Support behavioral and academic interventions, following established plans
- Facilitate inclusion and engagement for all students
- Help maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom atmosphere
