Senior Associate – Tax & Accounting

Mueth CPA, LLC is growing, and we’re looking for a Senior Associate to join our team in Waukesha. This is an opportunity to work directly with business owners and individuals on tax compliance, planning, and advisory projects while building a meaningful career in a collaborative, high-quality public accounting environment.

Position Overview

As a Senior Associate, you’ll take ownership of client projects, handle increasingly complex tax work, communicate directly with clients, and support and review the work of junior team members. Depending on experience and performance, this position offers a clear path to Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager, with increasing responsibility for client relationships, technical advisory work, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare complex individual, business, and fiduciary income tax returns and related workpapers

• Review workpapers and selected tax returns prepared by Experienced Associates, staff, and interns

• Manage assigned projects, deadlines, open items, and client communications

• Analyze client accounting records and financial statements in connection with tax compliance, planning, and advisory engagements

• Perform tax research and support planning and consulting engagements

• Identify issues and planning opportunities and communicate them to managers and clients

• Supervise, mentor, and support junior team members

• Assist with onboarding new clients and contribute to process improvements and firm initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field

• 3+ years of recent public accounting experience, including preparation of individual and business tax returns

• CPA designation or progress toward CPA preferred

• Strong understanding of accounting and tax principles

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with increasing independence

• Desire to develop review, leadership, and client-management skills

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $85,000 – $115,000, commensurate with experience
