RN Clinical Staff Nurse-EmPATH-Full Time Nights $7 differential

Overview MLK Community Hospital is a private, nonprofit safety-net hospital serving South Los Angeles with high-quality, culturally competent care. We are seeking a compassionate RN Clinical Staff Nurse to join our EmPATH (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment and Healing) unit on full-time night shifts, with a $7 per hour shift differential. In this role, you will provide frontline, patient-first care to adults experiencing psychiatric crises and co-occurring medical needs in a modern, purpose-built healing environment dedicated to historically underserved communities. As an EmPATH RN Clinical Staff Nurse, you will deliver comprehensive assessment, stabilization, and ongoing nursing care to patients in acute behavioral health distress. You will perform rapid and ongoing mental health and medical assessments, monitor vital signs and behavioral status, administer medications safely (including psychotropic and emergency medications), and implement individualized care plans focused on safety, stabilization, and recovery. You will use evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive approaches to de-escalate crises, support patients and families, and promote dignity and respect at every encounter. Working closely with psychiatrists, emergency medicine providers, social workers, case managers, and other members of a multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate care, participate in treatment planning, and contribute to safe, appropriate dispositions, including inpatient admission, observation, or community-based follow-up. You will document thoroughly and accurately in the electronic health record, adhere to regulatory and hospital policies, and uphold high standards of quality, safety, infection prevention, and patient privacy.
